Sometimes, When Everybody Doesn't Come, It's a Very Good Thing.

Today, I threw Zach a birthday party.  Every time I do, I think, "Why am I doing this?!  It's insanity!"  And today, was no exception.  There were eleven boys in my house - including my children.  Eleven!  And my holy heck are they loud.  My voice is a little hoarse from trying to get their attention.  The theme was Legos.  Yesterday, I chatted with my younger sister on FB.  I said, "I need to talk to you but I can't right now.  Will you be on later, so I can chat with you?"  To which she replied, "Lol.  How much later?" or something like that.  My response was, "Like hours.  I need to clean, and I haven't showered yet."  I think it was 12:30 in the afternoon.  So I explained to her that I needed party game ideas.  She is the queen.  Her parties are epic.  She never invites me to them, though.  I just get to see fun pictures on facebook the next day.  Oh, well.  That's how it goes when you are ten years apart, and she doesn't love you as much as she loves her friends.  I understand.  It's okay.  I have my own friends to love more than her.  ;)  Any way, she suggested a few games.  An obstacle course, that penny on the shoe game that I can't remember how to play, yet I do remember our mom having us play it at every single one of our parties.  She loved that game.  She also suggested that we have a treasure hunt to find a Lego set and then the kids could put it together after they found it.  That was a hit.  Until I said, "Now you guys can put it together."  They all left except for Zach, Riley, Kaleb and one or two friends who lost interest when I told the other boys they could play Lego Star Wars while the others did it.  I also think I picked a Lego set that was too big.  It took much longer than it should have.  When they arrived, I put them to work building Lego people heads.  They were hats, and the boys got to draw their own Lego face on it.  Emily suggested we paint their faces, but I didn't like that idea.  After the hats and treasure hunt we had cake and ice cream and opened presents.  Here are the pictures:

Making the hats

The treasure hunt.

The cake that wouldn't come out of the pan. :P

Blowing out the candles.

Water guns make the best presents!

But I guess his very own bag of M&Ms is even better.

And that is totally wicked!  A Lego set to go with his awesome Lego themed party!

The party favors were their own little Lego set to take home, and a candy bar.  What more could a little boy ask for?

I suppose I should explain my title.  Zach invited 10 people to his party.  Oh, like four of them couldn't make it.  I was glad.  Especially when one boy who wasn't invited (I don't think Zach really likes him) showed up, and one kid who was invited, brought his brother.  Okay.  Yay, for those who didn't come, so everyone could go home with something awesome!
