Here We Go Again

Thursday, Riley came home from school with a little story to tell me.
Apparently, when they are bored and waiting in line at school, the kids like to play "Human Dominoes".  Sounds dangerous, right?  Well, for normal children, it probably isn't and is perfectly fine, but I'm talking about one of my children.  Thursday, was a day the kids were waiting in line after P.E. and decided a rousing game of Human Dominoes was in order.  It's played just like it sounds.  One kid knocks himself over, knocking down all the kids behind him.  Just like Dominoes.  Well, when Riley fell, he landed on his hand. and jammed his pinkie.  He could move it (but it was painful), so I was pretty sure (hopefully) it wasn't broken, but the bruises concerned me.  I gave him an ice pack and told him if it kept swelling, we would have to go to the doctor.
Kurtis took a look at it when he got home and declared, "It's just jammed.  I used to do that all the time when I was young and played basketball."  I think he said some other things, but I heard basketball and pretty much stopped listening.  Sports talk makes my eyes glaze over.

My camera phone is the greatest, most high-quality, camera ever.
That's why I circled the bruises, and you can see his pinkie is swollen.  At least he is left handed and didn't get out of doing his homework.  He even went to pack meeting and the next morning said his finger felt much better.  When he got home from school, I asked him how it felt and he said it was all better.  Whew.  I really didn't want to go to the doctor.  That's what I would call a small miracle, and for that I am full of gratitude.  But I do hope that the next time he plays "Human Dominoes", he's a little more careful.  He shouldn't stop having fun, though.  Because there is always in an element of danger in everything we do.  Even reading a book can give you a paper cut.

ouch! I think I'm too old to play human dominoes. I do see the appeal though. Just the title sounds like something worth saying you've done. Nya. I still think I'm too old.
